“I have truly been inspired as a mother, helper and human being. Being a part of this experience and in the face of the movement has made history real and will affect me for the rest of my life”

LaLa Myrick

We are not makers of history. We are made by history.
Rev. Martin Luther King

The Civil Rights Movement transformed the U.S. political, social, and economic relationships for people of color, women and immigrants in the United States. Yet, over the past 30 years we have seen a return of systemic inequalities and race based decision making across all areas of American life.

For children and young adults the systemic behaviors are not as immediately visible as they were in the 60’s. The Civil Rights Tour provides an opportunity for people of all ages and races to remember and to feel what it took to bring about the civil rights we enjoy today and viscerally understand the reason they must fight to retain and expand these rights.

We invite all interested individuals including, grand parents and parents wanting to give their children an accurate understanding of the people and efforts which represent the civil rights movement, providing a much better foundation for bringing about the changes they want to see today

What we believe!

Heritage Empowered believes an educated populace is vital to the ongoing success of the republic, its people, and the communities they create.  We encourage children, youth, college students, parents, and grandparents to participate in all of our tours.  This enables all to be well-informed citizens prepared to participate in the current discussions and debates.  Participants will also gain a better understanding of the historical significance of the black experience in America and how it shaped our country.  We have proven over the last decade the transformative effect such knowledge has on the thinking and actions of those who participate.
